TED Talks About You: After concluding a successful 2016 conference last week, the curators of TED announced that they would be changing the timing and focus of the 2017 event.  TED will return to Vancouver from 24 – 28 April in 2017 with the theme “The Future You.” According to the conference organizers, the week will “explore the deepest scientific and psychological insights, the latest medical advances, the neatest, invention, all mixed with a dose of ancient wisdom, to ask the questions about ourselves that we often don’t have time for.” Apply to participate in next year’s TED here.

All About It: Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) the organization behind several large conferences has announced that it will not hold ITEXPO West in 2016.  Instead, the group will host a new event focused on the “significant role of APIs in the future of nearly every market.” Aptly named, It’s All About the API, the conference will be in Las Vegas from July 18 – 21.  The larger ITEXPO event, taking place in Ft. Lauderdale each year, is scheduled for 7 – 9 February 2017. Both events are accepting speaker suggestions.

No New York, Week in Washington: AtlanticLive will no longer hold the New York Ideas festival but it will be expanding its Washington Ideas event across the entire week!  Self-described as “an un-paralleled experience in the nation’s capital,” Washington Ideas Week will invite attendees to “join debate watch parties, play political trivia, catch film screenings, enjoy networking nights and take part in rich and lively conversation.”  Washington Ideas Week will be 26 – 29 September in Washington D.C.

Speaking Opportunity: Organized by the creators of the famous music and interactive festival held every March, South-by-Southwest (SXSW) Eco is a conference that “creates a space for business leaders, policy makers, innovators and designers to advance solutions that drive social, economic and environmental change.” The conference organizers are now accepting speaker suggestions through their Panel Picker process, which posts topic ideas online for public voting. The event is not happening until 10 – 12 October but the call for speakers closes on April 29. More details on the submission process can be found here.

Lunchtime Learning: Since 2010, Techonomy Media’s Annual Conference has illustrated how technology is transforming business and society.  Because this idea can manifest itself in so many ways, there have been a variety of speakers and topics featured on the Techonomy stage.  One of my favorite features of the conference’s agenda is the ‘Conversations with…’ sessions. Spend your next lunch with leaders from Facebook, DARPA and Kaiser Permanente.

Coming Up Next: Next week the security industry will take over San Francisco for the RSA Annual Conference (29 February – 4 March).  Also in San Francisco next week the Launch Festival (2 – 4 March) will take place, self-described as “the world’s largest startup event.” Healthcare IT leaders will be congregated in Las Vegas for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference and Exhibition (29 February – 4 March).  The event expects 40,000+ health IT professionals, clinicians, executives and vendors from around the world to attend.
