New Group for CSO: Evanta hosts more than 200 annual events and networking groups around the US each year. These summits are set up for leaders within specific disciplines such as human resources, finance, information technology and security.  The organization was recently acquired by CEB (another best practice insight and technology company) giving them the ability to widen their reach into new areas of focus. One example of this expansion is their new Chief Sales Officer Executive Summit, being held for the first time in Atlanta on 14 December. Anticipating its success, Evanta plans to host CSO Executive Summits in additional markets in 2017.

More IOT Event Action: After a very successful run in 2016, Encore Media Group has decided to continue it IOT Tech Expo series annually.  The 2017 events will again focus on the entire IOT ecosystem, illustrating best practices through case study presentations. The series will begin in January with IOT Expo Global in London. It will continue in Berlin in June with IOT Expo Europe. The final stop will be September in San Francisco  for IOT Tech Expo North America.  Check out this group of events and watch highlights from last year.

Speaking Opportunity: On 21 – 22 February in Beverly Hills, The Walter Katz Foundation will bring together the media and entertainment industry to showcase scripted and unscripted content, focused primarily on people of color. This event, the 8th annual Hollywood Creative Forum, is now accepting speaker/topic suggestions.  Submit your ideas here before 9 January.

Lunchtime Learning: As many people struggle to make sense of this year’s US Presidential election, it is helpful to hear different ideas about how we got to this point. While I’ve featured the Aspen Institute Ideas Festival several times previously in this section, I think it is important to highlight some of the presentations on last year’s conference track: The Choice 2016.  Hear the theories of academics, politicians and many others on the change underway in American politics.

Coming Up Next: On Monday of next week, ITU Telecom World will kick off in Bangkok, where more than 4000 thought leaders from government, industry, and start-ups in the ICT sector will gather “share knowledge and work to achieve sustainable development.” In San Francisco ‎entrepreneur, angel investor, and writer, Jason Calacanis will host Launch Scale. On the other side of the country in Brooklyn, New York, The Next Web (TNW) will host its rebranded Momentum Conference, which will feature only a dozen “painstakingly selected” speakers. And the 21st Annual Paley International Council Summit will take place in Mexico City from 16 – 17 November under the 2016 theme: Shaping the Global Marketplace.
