DLD’s Singapore Shindig: DLD will be hosting its first conference in Singapore this fall on 1 October. Like its other gatherings, DLD Singapore will bring together entrepreneurs, disruptors, researchers, politicians and creative minds from Europe, the US and China, but with their counterparts in Singapore’s exceptional tech, business media, science, design, and art ecosystem. The conference organizers expect approximately 400 international “by invitation only” guests, 30 speakers and 30 international journalists. Topics will focus on digital innovation, smart cities, fintech, crypto, mobility, entrepreneurship as well as art and design.

The Box is Back: After an 8-year hiatus, the (Hack In The Box) HITB Security Conference series will return to the Middle East in November! It will again include technical training courses, a multi-track conference, a Capture the Flag competition and a tech expo. The event will also include a car hacking and hardware-related village and a track called, CommSec, that will be livestreamed on YouTube. HITB Dubai will run from 25 – 28 November.

Speaking Opportunity: The mission of the Watermark Conference for Women is to promote, communicate and amplify the influence of women in the workplace and beyond. This is accomplished through a one-day programme of “engaging sessions and valuable networking opportunities, practical tools and inspirational stories.” If you are an experienced speaker with professional development, money management, business or life skills advice to share, consider submitting a speaker proposal before the 1 September deadline for the February 2019 event.

Lunchtime Learning: In 2017, SXSW in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz held the inaugural me Convention in Frankfurt. The “three-day cross-cultural event” brought together thought leaders from the technology, design, and creative industries to discuss the future. This year, me Convention will take place in Stockholm from 4 – 6 September where it will again reveal tomorrow’s most innovative technologies. Check out the 2017 talks here to understand what you can expect next month in Sweden.

Coming Up Next Week: As summer continues full “steam” ahead, a handful of events capitalize on the lack of competition for attendees. First up, SIGGRAPH (12-16 August; Vancouver) draws animators and production teams to discover the latest techniques, equipment, and creative processes. SIGGRAPH also hosts the SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival, a qualifying festival for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. CIO 100 Symposium runs 13-15 August in Rancho Palos Verdes, drawing over 300 of the most accomplished leaders in IT. Overseas, cybersecurity professionals will gather at CLOUDSEC in Hong Kong on 14 August. Sessions here cover the industry’s most pressing issues, including increasingly complex cyber-attacks, new government policies, and the widening cybersecurity skills gap. And in the Netherlands from 14-17 August, the IEEE Conference on Computational Intelligence and Games runs a technical program designed for researchers applying computational and artificial intelligence techniques to games.
