Learn About Speaker Strategies

A Healthy Discussion: A few weeks ago, we noted that Wired was hosting its first ever Health event in the US (in Boston) on 9 September. Well, Newcomer Media has announced that it will also be hosting an inaugural health-focused conference on the same date in San Francisco.  Deus Ex Medicina is Newcomer’s new AI Health & Longevity Summit for founders, investors, and other leaders working through this revolution in human health. The event is being created and hosted with Nayeema Raza, an independent journalist who hosts the Smart Girl Dumb Questions podcast. Several speakers have already been announced including the leaders of Oura, Maven Health, Oak HC/FT, and Loyal as well as some of the investor heavyweights – Vinod Khosla and Bob Kocher.

More than Mozart: TEDAI Vienna is an exclusive TED Conference in Europe dedicated to Artificial Intelligence. Curated and organized by Dr. Alina Nikolaou & team, in collaboration with TED, the event will return to the City of Music from 24 – 26 September and gather business leaders, inventors and thinkers across industry sectors gather for “mind-expanding workshops and panels, and unforgettable side events.” The events team recently announced an exciting new initiative for TEDAI Vienna 2025 — the Insider Program. This is a comprehensive 5-week online program hosted by TEDAI experts, strategic partners, and curated guests from the TEDAI network. According to curator Jakob Reiter, the Insider Program is “a platform where industry pioneers, decision-makers, and AI experts come together to bridge the gap between idea and execution.” He wants to help companies “not only keep up with technological advances but also set new benchmarks in utilizing AI for strategic advantage.”

Submission Opportunity: Last week RSA Conference (March 23 – 26, 2026; San Francisco) opened its Call for Submissions which closes on Monday, August 18 (11:59 PM Pacific Time). RSA again offers two formats to consider when submitting: Full track sessions and Learning Labs. This is a submission form that requires preparation and thought. We recommend reading the submission tips offered by the conference and considering the tracks that they will cover this year. And new this year! – The RSAC Cybersecurity Atlas shows “the rise and fall of keywords, topics, and subtopics over time using their annual Call for Submissions data.” This is a good resource to understand both the trends and competitive nature of the process.

Lunchtime Learning: Videos from 2025’s Aspen Ideas: Health and Aspen Ideas Festival, the two-week series of events that wrapped last month, are now available to watch online. We love Aspen’s search tool here that allows users to peruse sessions, search for keywords, or filter by topics. Watch leading security experts and officials discuss strategies for stronger defenses against AI-powered attacks on the Cyber Defense Goes Critical panel. Check out how AI is transforming businesses from the inside out or hear about creativity in the age of AI. And make sense of a world transformed by AI with Thomas Friedman and Michael Sandel.

Coming Up Next Week: It’s all about security, culture, and inclusion. First up, Black Hat – known for its cybersecurity trainings, briefings, demos, and networking and social events – holds its Black Hat USA event 2-7 August at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. Black Hat overlaps by one day with DEF CON, at the Las Vegas Convention Center and scheduled from 7-10 August. However while both can appeal to the infosec community, DEF CON is decidedly a hacker con focused on that community subset. CultureCon runs 5-7 August in Madison, WI, and explores the “latest employee experience strategies and innovations that shape an engaging, inclusive and productive working environment.” Finally, the Martha’s Vineyard Summit is back for a fourth year 6-8 August in Edgartown. Previously known as Martha’s Vineyard Chief Diversity Officer Summit, this year’s event acknowledges the “new context of relentless and disruptive change” our organizations face and aims to offer senior leadership new paths forward under the 2025 theme: “New Era, New Rules, New Way!”
