Conference News: Bloomberg & TED Relocate; Speak at KubeCon + CloudNativeCon

Learn About Speaker Strategies

Bloomberg New Economy Gets a New Location: The Bloomberg New Economy Forum will begin a new chapter, this time in New Delhi, India. Since its founding in 2018, the event has become known as an important meeting place for public officials, multinational CEOs, investors, financiers, and innovators. Previous New Economy Forums have been held in Singapore, China, Panama, Morocco, Ireland, and Brazil.  According to the conference team, “not only is India the fastest-growing major economy, but it is also emerging as an influential player in shifting supply chains and digital infrastructure, as well as a prominent voice in shaping international policies on security, energy, artificial intelligence, and public health.” The 2026 Forum will be held from 13-15 October under the theme: A World in Play: Defining the New Levers of Power.

And TED Also Makes Moves: After more than a decade in Vancouver, Canada, the annual TED conference will be moving to San Diego, California. The announcement was made at the conclusion of the April event and according to the TED blog explaining the move, the “decision follows a rigorous, two-year process centered on infrastructure, community and the ability to scale TED’s mission in meaningful ways.” TED has been held in Vancouver since 2014, when it moved from its previous location in Long Beach, CA. The original TED Conference was started in Monterey, CA in 1984. The move will expand the footprint of the conference and allow for “new opportunities for community engagement.” The TED team noted that “San Diego positions us at the literal and cultural crossroads of innovation: a city where biotech breakthroughs happen alongside innovations in entertainment and media, where the Pacific Rim meets Latin America, and where some of the world’s most urgent challenges are already being tackled. For TED, the choice is as symbolic as it is strategic.” TED2027 will be held from 1 – 4 March.

Submission Opportunity: KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America conference (9 – 12 November; Salt Lake City) brings together adopters and technologists from leading open source and cloud native communities. The robust conference hosts sessions across 11 tracks including AI Inference + Agentic; Application Development + Delivery; Cloud Native Experience: Cloud Native Novice; Connectivity; Data Processing & Storage; Emerging & Advanced; Observability; Operations & Performance; Platform Engineering; and Security. If you have a topic idea that provides clear lessons or advice, submit here before the deadline: 31 May at 11:59pm Mountain Time. A few things to keep in mind – 1) Diversity is important. “CNCF does not accept any session with three or more speakers who all identify as men” 2) Avoid only relying on AI when developing your submission. According to the CFP “If we identify that a submitter is consistently submitting AI-generated slop, it may result in removal from the review process and/or a ban from future CNCF CFPs.” 3) Choose a new topic. “CNCF will not select submissions that have already been presented at a previous Linux Foundation event within the past year.”

Lunchtime Learning: While TED goes through the process of relocating, you can still enjoy the sessions from this year’s Vancouver event. Videos of the sessions are already available online, including “Beware the Power of Prediction,” “The Problem with Billionaires,” and “A plan to Stop AI from Automating our Decline.”  Those sessions and all of the TED talks may be accessed at TED.com – and even sorted by topic. This is a great way to discover new ideas or learn more about a topic you are already familiar with.

Coming Up Next Week: The Milken Institute Global Conference runs 3-4 May in Los Angeles, drawing global leaders across business, government, technology, philanthropy, and public policy for conversations around health, finance, tech, and more. Many of the panels here at the Milken Institute’s flagship event will be available for livestream here. From 4-5 May, WSJ’s Future of Everything Festival takes place at The Glasshouse NYC, convening newsmakers from across every vertical WSJ covers – from finance, technology and economic policy to sports, streaming, and style. Also in New York, the AI Agent Conference kicks off 4 May to explore the future of enterprise autonomous AI. Consensus (5-7 May; Miami) is CoinDesk’s technology conference, created in 2015 for leaders at the intersection of crypto, finance, and tech. On 6 May, Cerebral Valley’s Voice Summit gathers founders, investors, and other AI leaders for “the definitive gathering on voice intelligence.” ISACA North America Conference gets underway 6 May at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, providing networking and content for practitioners working in audit, security, cybersecurity, compliance, risk, privacy, control, and IT.
