Back to the Ballroom: Back in 2012, serial entrepreneur John Battelle, well known for his work at Wired, The Industry Standard, and the Web 2.0 Conference, created NewCo Festivals to illustrate “the greatest shift in our business ecosystem since the industrial revolution.”  The idea behind these events was to flip the entire format of a conference on its head. Instead of attending presentations within a hotel ballroom or convention center, NewCo attendees visited the offices of disruptive companies in their city. In 2017, Mr. Battelle plans to return to the ballroom with a new by-invitation-only forum that will convene the established enterprises and the upstarts trying to disrupt the existing model. Taking place from 7 – 8 February NewCo Shift will create important dialogue and discourse.  More on the forum and how to request an invitation may be found here.

Important to have Principals: In 2017, The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) are holding their annual meeting together for the first time. Appropriately named The National Principals Conference, this event for school leaders from all grades (pre-K–12) will happen from 9 – 11 July in Philadelphia. According to the conference organizers, it will provide “an unprecedented opportunity to build transition bridges and fully prepare students for success in school and beyond to college and careers.”

Speaking Opportunity: Enterprise Connect brings together thousands of IT professionals, business leaders and technology providers to “discuss the latest systems, software, services and applications for enterprise communications and collaboration.” The 2017 conference, which will take place from 27- 30 March has opened its call for participation.  Submit speaker suggestions by Friday 26 August 2016 via their online form, but be sure to review their submission guidelines first!
