Gone Fishin’: While there is still lots happening in our world, Speaker Strategies will be taking a brief summer holiday from the newsletter in August. Stay on top of CFPs and news updates by following us on Twitter or reaching out directly. We would love to hear from you!

Recently Rescheduled: Emerge Americas, which was originally scheduled for March in Miami, then postponed to November, will now be rescheduled to 2021. The conference organizers hope to host the event live in Miami next year from 26-27 April. The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) will no longer be hosting an in-person SECtember Conference this year as they have decided to postpone until 2021. In the meantime, they are launching the SECtember Experience, a webinar series that will provide a preview of the content attendees can expect to experience on a broader scale when they are able to hold the conference as intended.

NextGen+ Solves the Virtual Event Equation: The Channel Company, which hosts several events each year has reimagined the way their NextGen conference will be delivered in our current environment. They plan to host a new hybrid event model called NexGen+. The hybrid model unites live, small-scale, multi-city regional events with an interactive virtual experience. The NexGen+ regional events will take place from 19-21 October, and the virtual conference will be on 22 October. The Channel Co. plans to resume live events again on a larger scale when the timing is right. In the meantime, they believe that this model will maintain their focus “on delivering an event that will enable MSPs to scale their business and meet customer demand by leveraging strategic partnerships and the latest cloud-powered technology innovations.”

Speaking Opportunity: IWCE connects the critical communications ecosystem to help professionals create a safer and more interconnected world. The organizers are planning a return to Las Vegas next year (22-25 March 2021) and currently accepting speaker suggestions. In addition to tracks on critical infrastructure, 5G, and disaster comms, the 2021 program will also host a special section on Safe Cities, addressing the global public safety market’s need to be more efficient at keeping citizens safe. Submit before 10 September.

Lunchtime Learning: The Milken Institute Summer Series brought together leaders in finance, health, philanthropy, and policy to “discuss a world undergoing astonishing change, reflect on our shared situation, exchange ideas with a network of peers, and prepare for life and business post-COVID.” Several panel discussions and fireside chats shine a light on how we can create a brighter post-crisis world. Tune in to hear from FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn; CEO of Delta Air Lines, Ed Bastian; Chairman and CEO of Pfizer Dr. Albert Bourla; and Owner, Dallas Mavericks, Landmark Theatres, and Magnolia Pictures; Chairman, AXS TV; Investor, Upstart, Mark Cuban.

Coming Up Next Week: Black Hat USA will run virtually 1-6 August, splitting in two the infosec program between hands-on training for the first three days, followed by two days of research-based briefings. Game Developers Conference/GDC will run an all-digital event 4-6 August. In addition to GDC’s perennial educational and technical content, they will run a new series of career development sessions covering topics such as “how to pitch your game” and “how to land an investor/publisher.” At CompTIA ChannelCon (4-6 August), the IT ecosystem (and theme) will be “Future Focused” and gather to  learn about business-building strategies surrounding drones, AI, IoT, and blockchain. EmTech Asia gets underway on 4 August, moving moderated discussions and expert-led presentations on emerging tech fully online. And Forbes will hold part two of its CIO Summit, focusing 5 August on CIO-centric concerns such as “Securing The Enterprise Against Cyberattack” and “Building Trust And Motivating Teams In Challenging Times.”
