Emtech Takes on ClimateTech: MIT Technology Review consistently publishes interesting and popular articles on the way that technology is helping in the fight against climate change. So it was only a matter of time before they created an event focused in that same area. The time is now! From 12 – 13 October, the team will debut ClimateTech, a hybrid conference that will consider the “new technologies across all industries making it possible to craft business plans that transition to clean energy systems while maintaining – if not improving – market competitiveness.” Topics will include modernizing the powergrid, biosciences, reducing the corporate carbon footprint, and other world changing cleantech ideas.

MWC and FC Barcelona: The GSMA announced that they would be collaborating with FC Barcelona to co-locate the Sports Tomorrow Congress at MWC Barcelona 2023 (from 27 February – 2 March). According to the official announcement, bringing together these two leading events “creates space to identify and create new business opportunities across the mobile and sports ecosystems.” The Sports Tomorrow Congress discusses themes such as health, nutrition, high athletic performance, the digital sphere and all topics related to sports and its impact on society. The announcement pointed out that this “shows the strategic importance and power of mobile connectivity.”

Speaking Opportunity: CES returns to Vegas from 5 – 8 January 2023. Self-described as “the world’s most influential technology event,” CES will bring together more than 150,000 individuals from over 150 countries, representing the entire technology ecosystem. The conference organizers have begun their search for “the brightest in the industry… to discuss the latest advancements across the technology ecosystem, from AI to metaverse, sustainability to vehicle technology.” They are also interested in how technology can play an important role in solving the worlds biggest challenges. You may make speaker suggestions through their online form until 5 August.

Lunchtime Learning: At Webit’s recent Summer Impact Forum, three key themes reigned: boosting entrepreneurship & innovation; empowering equality and inclusion; and exploring and supporting impact resilience and sustainable development solutions. The entire virtual agenda is now available on demand, offering keynotes, fireside chats, and panels focused on topics like sustainable finance, blockchain, health tech, cyber resilience, and future of work. Organizers shared that over 75,000 attendees took part in the largely virtual but hybrid event that included a one-day in-person event in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Coming Up Next Week: VentureBeat Transform rounds out its July programming with The AI & Edge Week, 26-28 July, completing the hybrid fortnight-long event spanning the “breadth and depth of the world of applied AI,” including vertical tracks in healthcare, finance, and manufacturing. On 27 July, Bloomberg Sustainable Business Summit will run as an in-person event in Singapore with a virtual participation option as well. AWS re:Inforce (26-27 July) is the partner conference for Amazon Web Services that is focused on security, compliance, identity, and privacy. And at the AdAge Small Agency Conference (26-27 July; Chicago), agencies with fewer than 150 employees meet to explore how to diversify client base, how to work with procurement departments, and how small shops are surviving and thriving during the pandemic.
